Tex Morton - Australian Ballads LP

This is Robert William Lane aka Tex Morton who was born in Nelson, NZ and in the late 1930's emigrated to Australia. Tex was a pioneer in Australian country music and died in 1983. This is a little like Stompin' Tom in an abstract way, this album is basically just ballads. The Song Kevin Barrie has also been covered by Stompin Tom so I guess that's a little bit of a connection there. This is not for everyone and there's probably a lot of people wondering why the hell I would post this here, well all I have to say is I have a diverse interest in music, and I hope people give this a chance if it's not your cup of tea that's fine. This was released by Universal Record Club PTY LTD, Pyrmont, NSW in around 1965 or so. Enjoy.

Benny Hill - The Best of Benny Hill cs

Another Benny Hill post. This is an older Benny Hill in this recording and the songs reflect a change in times as the song New York Rap would indicate. This cassette rip is all songs no skits. I can't really explain how watching the Benny Hill Show growing up introduced/got me interested in a lot of English shows such as The Kenny Everett Video Show, Are You Being Severed?, Faulty Towers, Red Dwarf, Dad's Army and a bunch more. This was released in 1992 (The same year that he died) on Continuum Records.

Well, this is my third Wayne/Jayne County post. I don't think it's been posted here before, if it has, my bad. I have to say that this is a great album. It was released in 1978 on Attic Records out of Canada. Comparing this to the last Wayne/Jayne County post, well this is 100% the real deal no techno to be found of course in 1978 I guess it would be disco not techno. My only complaint is what's with the Z in stead of an S? Makes me have flashbacks to 80's metal bands. anyways enjoy.

I am posting this in hopes that someone can tell me any information about either of the bands. I think that Purgative Klyster are from Sweden, as for Vol. 4 damned if I know. I can't seem to find anything about them on the web.

Purgative Klyster play straight up grindcore and do a good job of it. Vol. 4, well it's just a wall of noise and that's about it, not too enjoyable in my ears. In some strange way they remind me of the Swedish band Yello.

This was released on Agromosh records around 2005.

Cocknoose - Invader #1 must Die 7"

Keeping with My wrestling theme for the day, Cocknoose from Lawrence, KS. Two songs both about pro-wrestling. The first song Invader #1 Must Die, is about how Invader #1 (Jose Huertas Gonzalez),killed Brusier Brody (Frank Goodish) in a locker room in Puerto Rico pretty much got away scott free and how they feel about it. The band also dedicated the song to the memory of Brusier Brody which I think is pretty cool.

The second song on this 7" is a cover of the Fabulous Freebirds song from 1984. I have to admit that these boys from Kansas do a pretty damn good cover of it. I think Michael Hayes would be proud.

Psychotic Turnbuckles - The Goodtimes (Outweigh the Bad Times) 7"

This release is from 1988 released on Rattlesnake Records. As I said in the last post I enjoyed pro-wrestling in the past, this little 7" has a tribute to one of my favourite wrestlers of all time, Abdullah the Butcher, real name Larry Shreeve, who I think finally retired last year. He also had a song about him done by AntiSeen called Dear Abby, but I digress. Enjoy!

Horny Mormons - Pounded Clown - split LP

Split LP from two bands from Sacramento, CA. Horny Mormons play your typical funny but at times slightly disturbing songs, "Night of the Cow." I've always thought this band was fun to listen to. I think they may have released a 45" or two and appeared on a few Very Small Records comps. Pounded Clown is a band that by all standards I should absolutely hate. They use trumpets and French Horns in their songs and I HATE wind instruments. This isn't SKA either. Dave the lead singer voice sounds like he's sucking helium during songs, which makes things interesting. Again we have a bunch of funny songs, they do a cover of the "theme to Perry Mason," which is really good. 1-900 is the best song of the bunch. Released on Very Small Records, I don't think I have ever heard a bad record on that label, from 1992. Give it a listen, it's worth your wile.

Released on Boot Records in 1973. I am sure that the last three post are probably going to be the least popular post I've ever made, but I really don't care. Stompin' Tom Connors' music was introduced to me by a good friend from Toronto, and I have been a big fan ever since. The problem I have is trying to find Stompin' Tom's records in the states is damn near impossible. I have been in a lot of record stores throughout the USA and I have yet to find anyone who knew who Stompin' Tom is. I have found one record in a store in Tacoma, WA and the clerk had no idea where they had gotten it. I have been on the evil I-Tunes and there's all sorts of his stuff on the Canadian version but I have to go to the American store which has jack shit in the way of Stompin' Tom's music. (Have I mentioned how much I hate i-tunes?) Anyway the music is basically songs about Canada and some songs about Stompin' Tom's life. I can't say enough about how much I love his music it's not for everyone it's not punk, hardcore, OI, or new wave what you get from Stompin' Tom is good old fashion old school country-folk. One last thing from Detroit's Pittbull, this is a split with Ryker's out of Germany. I have to say that Pittbull comes across more of a metal band on this release, it's not bad in fact it's good, just a little different. Ryker's comes across as a NYC Hardcore band from the 90's. At times they sound like the Cro-Mags or any other band from that era. I liked it but it didn't seem to original to me. This was released by Lost and Found in 1993 I believe as there is nothing on the sleeve or record saying anything I had to rely on the internet for a release date.

Pittbull - I - split flexi 7"

First off I know nothing about this flexi other than what is on it. It was a freebee with the 10th issue of "SoldOut" which I assume was a fanzine from Windsor, ON. Secondly any one know anything about the band I? Not bad hardcore. The reason I posted this was for the Pittbull track. Pittbull from Detroit, MI released quite a bit of material this is straight up hardcore.

First off I have to admit as I have in the past I am a fan of Wayne/Jayne County, however this is fucking horrible. Side one is three techno songs the tittle track is done two times with not much difference between the two. The second side is more or less the Wayne County straight ahead punk rock that is pleasing to the ears. If I liked techno I'd be thrilled by this but since I am not much of a techno person this did nothing for me. Released on Royalty Records date unknown. Listen to at your own risk.

My copy came with with appears to be vomit or some kind of dried substance on the plastic sleeve. Released in 2000 on Waste Management Records, which I believe is the bands own label. Worth a listen.

Backseat Loser was a band from Portland, Oregon. As far as I know this is the only thing that they ever released. What you get here is good female fronted punk band. On a side note, Laura O'Donnell, who shares vocal duties on this, is/was Derby O'Donnell wife. Derby was in Portland band S.L.A. from the '80's. Laura and Derby are probably two of the nicest people I have ever met. Unfortunately, I haven't seen either of them in years.
